Campey Turf Care Systems were co-sponsors of the 11 th Don Harradine Memorial Trophy, which was held at the Augsburg Golf Club in southern Germany in September.

Don Harradine was a keen advocate of first class education and training for greenkeepers, believing that it was essential for them to receive due recognition for their work as one of the most important people on the golf course. He also founded the International Greenkeepers Association (IGA) in 1968, from which the national greenkeepers associations of today are borne. The event is held as an annual reminder of Don's support for the greenkeeper's professional values and is co-organised by the German, Swiss, Austrian and Slovenian Greenkeepers Associations.

The course was prepared superbly by the greens staff, in the full knowledge that the critical eyes of 80 or so visiting greenkeepers and trade personnel would be as much on the quality of the course as the golf. Both the practice day and tournament were played out under cloudless blue skies and in balmy temperatures.

Some great golf took place during an enjoyable day, which culminated in a gala dinner and presentation. The eventual winner was Peter Shaw of Munich Riedhoff Golf Club; his third consecutive victory in the tournament, his forth in total.

Campeys' Export Sales Manager, David Harrison, represented the company, whose machinery display supported by local dealer GT Equipment attracted a great deal of attention.
