Despite difficult times throughout the Irish golf markets, Partmarnock Golf Club appears to be bucking the trend and is still achieving high interest and patronage from its members. Investment in new machinery is still available to retain the high standards for which the club is renowned.
Brian O'Shaughness, Area Sales Manager for Campeys in Ireland recommended the Raycam Triplex Brush as an attachement to the front of the club's Toro Greensmaster 3250D to Course Manager, Gary Johnston. The objective was to help tackle the build-up of thatch and to reduce the stress placed on the grass through excessive verti-draining.
"Links courses have their own unique environment and conditions and they react differently to maintenance techniques used by inland golf courses," Gary explained. "The Triplex Brush converts a two man, two pass operation into a one pass action, saving us time and money. It also undoubtedly gives a better cut, lifting the grass up to cut cleanly, producing a much tighter surface that is normally found on a links course. This in turn speeds up the surfaces. Even during the wet summer when, depending on growth, we have brushed twice a month compared to once every two months in the dry times, we can still achieve a good speed on the green, much to our members delight!"
The Raycam Triplex Greens Brush lifts lateral growth allowing it to be boxed off, preventing the building up of thatch and leaving a firm, healthy surface with vertical growth. It also reduces the grain and the need for verticutting, producing less cutting in the soil profile.
