Richard has been a key figure in the sports turf industry for over 30 years. Having initially worked for SISIS, he decided to establish his own company in 1986, operating as a sports turf maintenance contractor in and around the north west of the UK where the company’s head office is situated. Over the years, Richard and his dedicated team have steadily grown the business to become one of Europe’s largest independent distributors, and the Campey name has become synonymous with quality machinery and first-class customer service. In his spare time Richard enjoys gardening and going for a ride in his Morgan car.
Simon has been an integral part of the Campey team for 12 years. Prior to that he’d been responsible for grounds maintenance, sales and deliveries for a local trailer manufacturer and had built up a good working relationship with Richard as a customer. Impressed with Richard’s company ethos and his passion for the industry, Simon joined the firm as Sales Representative for South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands before becoming Sales Director in 2006. Any spare time he has is spent walking the dog, playing tennis and running around after his three children.
David has been a well-known face in the ground care industry for more than 30 years. He embarked on his career at SISIS as a technical illustrator, before moving into sales in 1979, spending 16 years as a demonstrator supporting UK reps & overseas distributors before taking responsibility for sales in South West England as the firm’s representative in Devon & Cornwall. David’s extensive knowledge of a wide range of specialist machinery and the UK and overseas marketplaces resulted in his promotion to Export Sales Manager in 1996 then to Sales Director several years later. He joined Campeys as Export Sales Manager in November 2009 assuming responsibilities for expanding further into Asia, the Middle East and Africa, while helping consolidate the growing European business. He’s happiest in the great outdoors, spending his spare time mountain biking and taking part in outdoor sports. He’s also a lifelong fan of soul music & Leeds United Football Club.
David has been part of the sales team at Campeys for 11 years and is responsible for UK and export sales and demonstrations covering Scotland, the north east of England and Southern Europe. He has considerable knowledge and experience of a wide range of machinery having worked in horticultural, ground care and agricultural machinery sales roles for the past 30 years.
Ian ‘Poggy’ has worked in sales for 47 years, moving from the agricultural sector, where he was also a qualified NIAB Crop Inspector, into groundcare in the early ‘80s. Poggy is keen on sport and is an ardent supporter of Gloucester Rugby Club. He also used to enjoy clay pigeon shooting, but now prefers spending time in the garden and indulging his love of all things mechanical by helping one of his three grandsons maintain his motorbikes.
Brian has more than 30 years experience in the groundcare industry. A qualified mechanical fitter, he was appointed as workshop manager at Lenehans Countrywide in 1987. In 1989 he moved to the Atkins/McKenzie’s group working in sales and spare parts. Three years later he was appointed as sales representative covering Dublin to Galway and also took on the role of main buyer for the group. After being approached by I.A.M. Agricultural Machinery, he set up a new Groundcare Division for the company in 2001. Brian joined Campey’s as Product Specialist for Ireland in July 2009. In his spare time he works for charity project in South Africa, visiting the country several times over the past few years to assist with building projects. He also enjoys music and sports
Ian has worked in the ground care industry for 30 years, starting at SISIS straight from school where he completed a four year research and development apprenticeship, gaining City Guilds in Engineering before moving over to the UK and Export demonstration team for 17 years. His final 2 years at SISIS were spent in sales as a territory manager for Lancashire and Cheshire. He joined Campeys in 2004 as Product Specialist for the north west area covering Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire. Much of his spare time over the past eight years has been taken up running Poynton Under 15s football team and he’s a keen supporter of Manchester United Football club. In close season he enjoys walking, boating, water sports and mountain biking with his two sons Adam and Liam, wife Tracey and springer spaniel, Cassey.
Mick is Campey's 'Mr Fix It'. Should you experience any issues with a piece of machinery, our Outside Service Engineer will visit your site to put it right. He's been in the industry for 35 years and part of the Campey team for appoaching 20, so there's very little he doesn't know about machinery - he's been known to strip a tractor out in the field! When he's not immersed in all things mechanical, he enjoys a variety of sports activities.
John, Richard's son, joined the family business in 2009 after completing a three year course in Agricultural Engineering at Reaseheath College. His expertise and interest in this sector led to the inception of JC Machinery, a subsidiary company promoting and selling the revolutionary Imants range of rotary spaders which replace tradtional ploughing, cultivating and incorporation processes and seed-bed preparation in a single pass.
Steven joined Campeys in 1998 as our workshop engineer, having completed a Higher National Diploma in Engineering, progressing to the role of Parts Manager in 2007, and to General Manager in 2011. In his spare time he likes to keep the adrenaline pumping, taking part in water sports in the summer and snow boarding through the winter.
